Intriguing aspects of Asian Summer Monsoon Anticyclone Ozone variability from Microwave Limb Sounder measurements

چکیده
Using the long-term (2005–2019) observations from Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) onboard Aqua satellite, present study delineates variability of lower stratospheric ozone (LSO) in Asian Summer Monsoon Anticyclone (ASMA) region. The climatological features LSO indicate a peak minimum southern flank ASMA noticed by geopotential measurements MLS. Further, temporal indicates significant interannual during 15 years MLS observations. Our analysis found that two prominent source regions control at time scales region, associated with Pacific and Indian Ocean sea surface temperatures. More importantly, extreme (positive/negative) values anomalies coincide El Niño–Southern Oscillation(El Niño/La Niña) events. composite reveals change mean magnitude about 10 ppb between Niño La Niña phases. results reduced water vapor transport due to subsidence suppressed convection phase leads less mixing across upper troposphere stratosphere, therefore, causing higher concentrations vice-versa phase. Hence, this strong implication for climatic perturbations over

متن کاملImpact of variability in the Indian summer monsoon on the East Asian summer monsoon
We report on model experiments that support the hypothesis that the second mode of variability of the East Asian Summer Monsoon is influenced by the variability of the Indian Summer Monsoon. The results suggest that the recent trend towards drier conditions in northern China in summer is, at least partly, a consequence of the synchronous drying trend over India in summer noted by some authors. ...
متن کاملTransport pathways from the Asian monsoon anticyclone to the stratosphere
Transport pathways of air originating in the uppertropospheric Asian monsoon anticyclone are investigated based on three-dimensional trajectories. The Asian monsoon anticyclone emerges in response to persistent deep convection over India and southeast Asia in northern summer, and this convection is associated with rapid transport from the surface to the upper troposphere and possibly into the s...
متن کاملEfficient transport of tropospheric aerosol into the stratosphere via the Asian summer monsoon anticyclone.
An enhanced aerosol layer near the tropopause over Asia during the June-September period of the Asian summer monsoon (ASM) was recently identified using satellite observations. Its sources and climate impact are presently not well-characterized. To improve understanding of this phenomenon, we made in situ aerosol measurements during summer 2015 from Kunming, China, then followed with a modeling...
متن کاملUsing a WRF simulation to examine regions where convection impacts the Asian summer monsoon anticyclone
The Asian summer monsoon is a prominent feature of the global circulation that is associated with an upperlevel anticyclone (ULAC) that stands out vividly in satellite observations of trace gases. The ULAC also is an important region of troposphere-to-stratosphere transport. We ran the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model at convective-permitting scales (4 km grid spacing) between 10 an...
